Text Box:      Starting in 2008 the band broke from the tradition of having only one conductor to using a rotating series of conductors.   Mr. George Boberg is Professor Emeritus at University of Kansas. His experience includes concert band, marching band, orchestra, music theatre and percussion ensemble as well as playing professionally with groups in New York City and Kansas City.
     Mr. Ben Edwards, who in real life is the band director at South Brunswick Middle School, is a graduate of Appalachian State. Mr. Edwards has built a tremendous program, at the middle school, achieving the highest placement rate of all county schools at county, regional and state band competitions.
   Mr. Lee Cappiello joined our conductor ranks in 2009. Following his graduation from Montclair State Teachers College, Mr. Cappiello directed the Signal Corps Army Band and the Army Jazz Band. Following that he had a long, successful career in public education. He has performed professionally on trumpet with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and has been involved in community musical groups in Florida, New Jersey and Wilmington NC.
     The Big Band is currently under the direction of Mr. Frank Mahoney, a retired financial services industry executive who is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi with a music education degree.   Mr. Mahoney was a professional performer with several ensembles, including his own combo. He serves as a valuable asset to the concert band as well as being the President of the organization.
